"Designed for racing, built for living". The number is a nominal BHP/tonne figure and performance comes as standard. The Superlight derivatives are all spoilt by misguided buyers who specify a windscreen, heater and weather gear. The headline weight figures are all based on dry weights and cosmetic rollover protection, so most built cars come in at between 10 and 20 kg heavier than the headline figure.
R300 is:
- Rover K-series 1.8 on roller barrel throttle bodies
- 160bhp
- MBE electronic engine management
- six speed gearbox
- fibre glass wings and nosecone ??
- carbon fibre dash
- new spec 15 inch wheels and bespoke Avon CR500 tyres
- uprated front brakes
- widetrack
- aeroscreen as standard
R400 adds to this with:
- a limited slip differential
- a ported big valve VHPD derivative of the Rover K-series head
- 200bhp
- a nitrocarburised crank
- forged pistons
- usually dry sumped
- full carbon fibre bodywork pack of wings and nosecone
- 13 inch magnesium hub, spun aluminium split rim wheels carrying Avon ACB10 or CR500 tyres
- Aluminium cast dry sump system incorporating a bellhousing oil tank
R500 adds to this with:
- Extra lightening measures on the chassis
- All steel bottom end on the specially prepared engine
- 230bhp@8600rpm
- Carbon fibre aeroscreen
- Carbon/kevlar composite seats
- Carbon effect central tunnel cover
- Magnesium cast dry sump and bellhousing oil tank as standard
