General Hints and Tips

Will I fit?
Generally, anyone over 6ft tall is going to need to tailor the spec. of the car to achieve a comfortable fit. And anything other than a deDion, "long cockpit" car (all newer than 1995 are) is likely to prove too small.

Anyone over 6ft4in is going to have trouble, especially if carrying more girth! It has been known for people of 6ft6in to manage, but generally these people would be better off in a zoo, or perhaps an SV. In fact anyone over 6ft and 16st or so should take a look at an SV for suitability.

Tips for fitting into a 7 are as follows:

Car Covers
A very good idea for those with or without garages. Two types, indoor and outdoor. The difference shouldn't need explaining. Tailored indoor covers are typically about £45. Outdoor covers are of more (general) use. Be very careful using tarpaulins or cheap plastic covers as these can easily scratch paintwork/aluminium. They are also not breathable so will encourage rust if the car is left damp when covered. Breathable, fully waterproof covers are the best option and most also protect against UV, the nastier output of our feathered friends and many will give some basic protection against acid rain, paint spills etc. Tailored covers start at approximately £90 and go up to £250. From a number of experiences, the Cover Systems cover at £90 is ideal in all respects and provides excellent protection.
Theft Concerns
Basically, don't worry too much. The 7 seems to be much more respected by all members of the public than most nice cars. The tattooed fwit fraternity even seem to leave it alone! Thefts are very rare. Most insurance companies insist on a Thatcham immobiliser being installed, which is a good move. A removable steering wheel also helps theft prevention. Alarms are rarely installed for obvious reasons, plus they simply add weight. Some people use shackle locks through the wheels or attached to the ground. The danger here is if someone tries to steal it and doesn't notice the lock, or you forget to take it off. Plenty of damage could be caused!
